Shrewsbury Archives

Recently I went to Shrewsbury Archives searching Parish Records for Childs Ercall and Tibbington, Shropshire for my ancestors - Addison family.

Shrewsbury Castle

I looked around the town, at the Castle picture above and the  river.
Found my Gt Gt grandfather William Addison's Baptism at Childs Ercall and his sister and Brother at Tibberton.  Found the marriage of William's parents at Child's Ercall also James Addison and Jane Cheshire on May 1st 1850  2 months before William's Baptism on 1July 1850.  James gave his father as not known but I have found a possible Baptism in 1825 at Tibberton.

This was my first visit to Shrewsbury and the archives.  They were very welcoming and helpful.

Joseph Beasley

My great-grandparents Fanny Alice Addison and Joseph Beasley were married in 1906.
Currently working on these families.  Recently got the birth certificate of Joseph Beasley was born 3 March 1885 at Wixford in Warwickshire.  He moved with rest of his family to Smethwick, Staffordshire by 1891 census.  I had problems finding his birth as I thought this was in Smethwick.  There is supposed to be an irish connection but I haven't found this.

Have so far got to his grandfather William Beasley who born at Greatworth, Northamptonshire and was shoemaker.  Born about 1812.
If anyone has any information please contact me.

Ancestry and references in census returns

Ancestry

I was looking at Ancestry for one of my families who  lived in Smethwick, staffordshire.
I selected all the people on the same page and the first entry on the page was shown with the refence from the previous page.  This was because the household in the census page was split over 2 pages.

Always worth checking the origional for information like this, has the transcript may have missed something.  I was checking for William Addison and the reference given is - RG11/2963 F24 Pg 43.

Birmingham archives closed for 9 months - research

Birmingham archives closed on 21 December 2012
New library opens 3 September 2013.  I was at the archives on the last day with about another seven people.

I was looking for some marriages, found one I was looking for.  Between Augustus Joseph Bacciochi and kate Taylor in 1886.  This was at St Martins, Birmingham, my husbands  Great grandparents.

The church that overlooks Birmingham bullring shopping centre.
The records also available via bmsgh (Birmingham and midland society for genealogy and heraldry) on cd and dvd via website.  http://www.bmsgh.org/index.html

Thinking of getting these records for my family research.
